520 _aThe main objective of this paper is to examine the SMEs' enabling environment for Botswana's SMEs development and sustainability during the current era of fierce competition. Relevant policy, regulations and institutions have been reviewed and the extent to which business owners make use of SMEs facilitators has been evaluated. It has been shown that despite the availability of good policies and SMEs facilitators, the enterprises are not benefiting adequately from them. Although the article has spelt out main possible reasons for the trend more comprehensive research is required in that direction. As the policy recommendation there is also a need for government, stakeholders or SMEs facilitators in general to ensure adequate information dissemination and more incentives on their delivery.
