The monitoring and performance evaluation studies were carried out for an effluent treatment plant of a distillery unit. The samples from inlet and outlet locations of ETP were collected at regular intervals and were analyzed for different parameters. The pH, BOD, COD, TDS, TSS and TS were found to be reduced significantly, where as the pH of the raw as well as the treated effluent remain almost the same. The plant is quite efficient in treating the wastewater of the distillery plant obtaining an average reduction of 82.4% in BOD, 80.6% in COD, 82.1% in TDS, 60.5% in TSS, 75.09% in TS. The discharge of distillery is 0% so there is no harm to any type of aquatic life and water body. The generated data presented the evidence that the plant is working with the norms specified by the pollution control board.
